CNR 1958 Public Timetable, Eastern Canada, Part 1

Generally, this timetable covers the territory east of Montreal, to Halifax and St John's, and includes the Newfoundland Coastal Services. 

In many cases, train equipment details are provided.

From an unknown publication, this nice view of Moncton was put on file by LC Gagnon. The view looks timetable west. The station leads appear at the right side of the yard. A number of passenger station buildings can be seen to the right of those tracks - just beyond the road underpass in the foreground.

Almost anyone can have a piggyback ramp, but more remote areas would not have bi/tri-level autorack unloading facilities nearby.
In remote areas, the highway conditions would have made long-haul trucking of autos impractical.
