After all the chaos of the Great War, Canadian National Railways was trying to organize itself into a national railway system. I purchased this reprint of an article from The Canadian Magazine. It was probably provided to some passengers ... or used to promote the CNR to people whose business it was to ponder Canada's 'railway problem'.
As one might have expected, you can find this article within preserved copies of the publication at archive.org . Look for Volume LII, November 1918 to April 1919. Lake Louise and a variety of interesting Great War topics are also covered in this volume.
At any rate, below, you'll find detailed descriptions of the careers of key CNR officers and a brief description of how the various components of the system evolved.
